Ukraine Stops Publishing Missile Intercept Data as Patriot Stocks Run Dry

The Ukrainian Air Force has stopped publishing figures on the number of Russian missiles intercepted by its air defense systems, amid an acute shortage of interceptor missiles, the Financial Times reported Saturday, citing Ukrainian officials.

According to the officials, the shortage of interceptor missiles has become so severe that Ukraine’s Air Force is seeking to conceal the number of Russian missiles it is unable to intercept.

The sources said the decision was taken for security reasons and to prevent the disclosure of information that could undermine public morale.

The Ukrainian Air Force last published statistics on intercepted Russian missiles on August 8. Previously, it issued daily morning reports detailing the types and numbers of Russian missiles and other munitions involved in overnight attacks.

The latest reports, however, list only the types of Russian munitions used, without providing figures or information on the number of missiles successfully intercepted.

The development comes as Ukraine continues to face pressure on its air defense capabilities, including a shortage of interceptor missiles for Western-supplied systems such as Patriot. The systems have been central to Ukraine’s efforts to defend major cities and strategic infrastructure against Russian missile attacks.

The decision to stop releasing interception figures could make it more difficult to assess the effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defense systems and the scale of its remaining interceptor missile stocks.
