China Condemns US Decision to Add Chinese Firms to ‘Military Companies’ List

China’s Ministry of Commerce has strongly criticized the United States for adding several Chinese companies to its so-called “Chinese Military Companies” list, describing the move as discriminatory and unjustified, while warning that Beijing will take firm countermeasures if Washington fails to reverse the decision.

Responding to media inquiries regarding the latest action by the US Department of Defense, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce said on Saturday that China is “strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to” the measure.

According to the ministry, the US decision contradicts the consensus reached by the leaders of China and the United States during previous high-level engagements and undermines the broader interests of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

“We have taken note of the situation. China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to the US action,” the spokesperson said.

The ministry accused Washington of repeatedly expanding the concept of national security and misusing state power to suppress Chinese enterprises. Such actions, it said, have disrupted international economic and trade order, threatened the stability of global industrial and supply chains, and infringed upon the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.

Beijing urged the United States to immediately halt what it described as wrongful practices, revoke the relevant measures, and return to the path of developing a constructive, stable, and mutually beneficial China-US relationship.

The spokesperson also called on the US government to provide Chinese companies with fair, equitable, and non-discriminatory treatment in the American market.

China warned that if the United States continues to pursue such measures, Beijing will take “resolute and forceful countermeasures” to safeguard its national interests and the rights of its enterprises.

“The consequences and responsibilities arising from such actions will be borne entirely by the US side,” the spokesperson stated.

The latest dispute adds to ongoing tensions between the world’s two largest economies over trade, technology, national security, and industrial policy, issues that continue to shape the broader trajectory of China-US relations.
