Russian Embassy Condemns Anti-Russian Article by Lynn Okers

The Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka has strongly condemned an article by Lynn Okers titled “Huge Question Marks Remain Over Ukraine and Gaza”, published in The Island newspaper yesterday (27). In an official press release, the Embassy rejected Okers’ comparison between Adolf Hitler’s bloody campaign to conquer Europe and Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, which the Embassy claims is aimed at protecting the Russian-speaking population from discrimination and destruction.

The statement further alleges that Lynn Okers is attempting to impose a false narrative on Sri Lankan readers through his article.

The Embassy also denounced Okers’ attempt to liken the peace plan currently proposed by the U.S. administration of President Donald Trump to the Munich Agreement of Nazi Germany. The press release questions why Okers fails to acknowledge the roles of Great Britain and France, whom it describes as the real architects behind the treacherous Munich pact.

Additionally, the Embassy states that by blaming Ukraine’s President Zelensky for what it calls Russia’s justified actions against Nazis and a corrupt regime in Kyiv, Okers is effectively revealing himself as a supporter of neo-Nazi ideology.

The statement concludes by emphasizing that the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka reserves the right to respond strongly to any anti-Russian opinions expressed by individuals such as Okers.
