US Diesel Prices Rise for Second Consecutive Day, Reaching Highest Level in History, Analysts Say

The average price of diesel fuel in the United States has reached a new all-time high for the second consecutive day, rising to $6.31 per gallon (approximately 3.8 litres), equivalent to $1.67 per litre. International analysts reportedly said on the 16th, after studying data from the American Automobile Association (AAA).

On the 15th, the average price of diesel fuel stood at $6.27 per gallon, or $1.66 per litre, which was the highest recorded level up to that point. The previous record high was $5.80 per gallon, or $1.53 per litre, recorded in July 2022. At the beginning of 2025, the average price of a gallon of diesel in the United States was less than $3.50, or less than $0.925 per litre.

In the state of California, where fuel prices are generally higher than the national average, diesel prices have exceeded $8.26 per gallon, or $2.18 per litre, while prices at some fuel stations have risen above $9.00 per gallon, or $2.38 per litre.

The rise in diesel prices in the United States directly affects the prices of goods. This is because diesel fuel is widely used to operate agricultural machinery and heavy-duty vehicles involved in supply chains.
